The role of the Computing Hub is to provide local, responsive and appropriately tailored support to state funded primary and secondary schools and colleges in Greater Lincolnshire, covering practical and theoretical aspects of teaching computing.

This Hub delivers the NCCE core CPD provision that meets the needs of primary and secondary schools and FE colleges. There is a blend of remote and face to face training on offer. Remote training consists of a series of (usually 3) one hour sessions with participant gap tasks. Face-to-face training is delivered as full day, half day and twilight sessions depending on need.

For state funded primary schools, the training costs £35 per teacher per course but attracts a bursary of £220 per school per academic year.    

Secondary teachers can take advantage of the Computer Science Accelerator Programme, which leads to accreditation as a GCSE Computer Science teacher. The Hub delivers face-to-face and remote CPD to complement online CPD, supporting teachers to complete the programme and achieve successful certification. All CSA courses are free to access. In addition, training sessions are offered to upskill teachers to become CPD facilitators.

Where appropriate, the Computing Hub will provide consultancy support and action planning to schools that will enable them to implement Computer Science curriculums across all Key Stages.

The Hub organises and delivers networks for teachers and leaders of computing with events in the county to raise awareness of the NCCE offer, CPD, programme of support and other NCCE delivered programmes, for example, the Isaac Computer Science programme, Gender Balance in Computing programme, CAS Communities of Practice and Barefoot programming.
